What is a credit union?
Credit unions are different from banks and other financial institutions.
They're cooperatives, owned by the members they serve. Anyone who
opens an account secures a share in the credit union.
Another difference is that credit unions are not for profit institutions.
That means all of our profits go back into the credit union, resulting
in better rates and dividends and fewer fees.
What makes Delaware Alliance FCU special?
Delaware Alliance Federal Credit Union was originally founded and
chartered as Health and Social Services Federal Credit Union in
1963 by the employees of the Delaware State Hospital to provide
sound financial services for themselves and their families. In 1990
we merged with the Chamber of Commerce FCU and became Delaware Alliance
FCU. Today our credit union serves approximately 7,000 members and
includes many other employee
groups and their families. As we continue to grow, we still
maintain the credit union philosophy of "people helping people"
and strive to provide our members with friendly, personalized service.
